Treatment of Yersiniosis Presenting with Skin Lesions

Yersiniosis can manifest with cutaneous involvement. The need for — and nature of — treatment depends on the severity of the skin lesions present.

Clinical Scenario

Patients with Yersiniosis may develop skin lesions as part of their presentation. Mild skin lesions usually do not require treatment; more pronounced lesions call for a targeted topical approach.

Treatment Overview

When skin lesions are sufficiently severe to warrant intervention, management involves topical agents — including keratinolytic and anti-inflammatory preparations applied as creams or ointments. Specific agent selection and the full clinical algorithm are detailed in the complete structured protocol.

Mild skin lesions usually do not require treatment.

In more severe lesions, keratinolytic agents (e.g., topical salicylic preparations), glucocorticosteroids (GCSs), or calcipotriol in the form of a cream or ointment can be used.
