This protocol addresses severe, sight-threatening vernal keratoconjunctivitis in patients whose condition has not responded adequately to topical therapy.
When vernal keratoconjunctivitis is severe, poses a risk to vision, and has not responded to topical treatment, a corticosteroid-based intervention may be considered. The full protocol specifies exactly how and when it is applied.
For severe sight-threatening atopic keratoconjunctivitis that is not responsive to topical therapy, supratarsal injection of corticosteroid can be considered.
