The protocol addresses uterine fibroids (leiomyomas) that are present but cause no attributable symptoms. The majority of uterine leiomyomas are asymptomatic and will not require therapy.

Patients with asymptomatic fibroids should be reassured that there is no evidence that hysterectomy is indicated for prevention of malignancy.
