Fertility Preservation in Post-Menarche Individuals with Turner Syndrome and Fertility Potential

For post-menarche individuals with Turner syndrome who retain fertility potential and have reached appropriate psychological maturity, a structured fertility preservation approach is recommended when the clinical setting supports it.

This protocol applies to post-menarche individuals with Turner syndrome who have identified fertility potential. Psychological maturity is a prerequisite, and management should take place at centres with sufficient expertise in Turner syndrome care alongside access to psychosocial support.

Treatment approach (partial overview)

The primary recommended approach involves a form of controlled ovarian stimulation combined with oocyte preservation — carried out under specialist supervision with appropriate psychosocial support in place.

The complete regimen, sequencing, and clinical decision criteria are available in the full structured protocol.

  • We recommend controlled ovarian stimulation and oocyte cryopreservation, in females with a fertility potential, as the primary fertility preservation option in post-menarche individuals of appropriate psychological maturity, in centers with sufficient expertise in managing women with TS and the availability of psychosocial support.
