Tolosa-Hunt Syndrome Treatment in Children (Paediatric Age)
Tolosa-Hunt syndrome (THS) is a painful ophthalmoplegia caused by non-specific granulomatous inflammation of the cavernous sinus or superior orbital fissure. While predominantly described in adults, it can also present in children, where it follows a related clinical course.
This protocol addresses THS occurring in paediatric patients (children). Although exceedingly rare in this age group compared to adults, THS in children follows a related course and requires age-appropriate management.
The evidence-based approach for this paediatric scenario centres on corticosteroid therapy, with specific dosing strategies that have demonstrated sustained remission on both clinical and imaging follow-up.

Comparatively, in pediatric group THS seems to be exceedingly rare but follows a related course as adult group.
In children mPSL of 1 mg/kg/d for 7 days and gradual tapering up to three months and the alternative same dose for 14 days tapered slowly over 1 month have been proved to be useful in different occasions with no relapses remarked for more than 3 years of clinical and MRI follow-up, of note, more researches are obligated to ascertain the optimal corticosteroid course for the therapy in adults and pediatric population with THS.
