Treatment of Tertiary Syphilis with Cardiovascular Syphilis or Gummatous Lesions (No Penicillin Allergy)

Clinical Scenario

This protocol covers two presentations of tertiary syphilis in patients without penicillin allergy: cardiovascular syphilis — including aortic regurgitation, stenosis of coronary ostia, or aortic aneurysm — and gummatous syphilis, presenting as nodules, plaques, or ulcers of the skin, mucosae, or viscera.

Treatment Approach

Treatment centres on a long-acting injectable penicillin given in a structured, multi-session course — the complete regimen, including dosing schedule and administration specifics, is available in the full protocol.
