Treatment of Troublesome Tardive Dyskinesia Interfering With Daily Activities and Quality of Life

Clinical Scenario

This protocol applies to patients with an approved indication for antipsychotic use who have developed tardive dyskinesia that is at least moderate in severity and significantly interferes with activities of daily living and quality of life.

Treatment Approach

For intractable cases refractory to prior therapy, a targeted neurostimulation procedure is among the interventions addressed in the full protocol — the complete approach and eligibility criteria are detailed in the structured regimen.

Clinical Goal

The protocol targets at least 50% improvement on standard tardive dyskinesia rating scales within 6 months of initiating the intervention, with evidence supporting sustained long-term benefit.
