Treatment of Mild, Non-Troublesome Tardive Dyskinesia in Patients on Antipsychotics for an Approved Indication

This protocol addresses patients who require ongoing antipsychotic therapy for an approved psychiatric indication and who have developed mild tardive dyskinesia that is not yet functionally troublesome.

The patient is receiving antipsychotic treatment for an approved indication. The tardive dyskinesia is mild and non-troublesome — a severity level at which observation and regular clinical reassessment may be sufficient, rather than immediate escalation.

The structured protocol focuses on an antipsychotic dosage-based strategy. The full regimen, decision criteria, and monitoring plan are available via the link below.

In cases of mild TS, observation and regular reassessments may be adequate.

Therefore, it seems reasonable for physicians to prescribe the lowest antipsychotic dosage that can control an individual's psychotic symptoms.
