Treatment of Tachycardia-Induced Cardiomyopathy in Atrial Flutter, Focal AT, AVNRT, or AVRT

This protocol covers tachycardia-induced cardiomyopathy (TIC) when the causative arrhythmia is one of four specific, highly treatable rhythm disorders. The clinical goal is recovery of left ventricular systolic function.

Clinical scenario — underlying arrhythmia

These arrhythmias can be managed with a high success rate, making definitive first-line intervention appropriate.

Treatment goal

Recovery of left ventricular systolic function within 1 to 6 months after successful treatment of the arrhythmia.

Approach — partial overview

First-line management centres on a catheter-based ablation procedure targeting the culprit arrhythmia. The complete protocol — including decision criteria, sequencing, and the full range of options — is available in the structured regimen.

RFCA should be considered as the first therapy for arrhythmias which can be managed with a high success rate such as atrial flutter, focal AT, AVNRT and AVRT.

This approach includes radiofrequency catheter ablation (RFCA) of culprit arrhythmia or antiarrhythmic drugs.

In case of improvement, recovery can be achieved within 1 to 6 months after appropriate treatment for tachycardia and HF.
