This protocol addresses sublingual gland cancer presenting with distant metastasis (M1 disease). At this stage the disease is no longer localised, and systemic management becomes the primary consideration.
In recurrent or metastatic (R/M) sublingual gland cancer, systemic treatment is challenging but can be urgent, depending on tumour subtype and behaviour. The extent and pace of distant spread guide the urgency and choice of approach.
Systemic therapy for this setting involves platinum-based palliative chemotherapy. In select cases where an actionable molecular target is identified, targeted therapy may also be considered — the full structured regimen includes further options and selection criteria.
