Osteoarticular sporotrichosis is a form of sporotrichosis in which infection involves the bones, joints, or adjacent structures. Managing this presentation requires a specific, evidence-based approach distinct from cutaneous forms of the disease.
This protocol applies to patients with osteoarticular sporotrichosis — deep infection affecting skeletal or articular tissue. Correct classification of this presentation is essential, as it determines both the choice and length of antifungal treatment.
First-line management involves oral antifungal therapy. Given the deep-tissue nature of osteoarticular involvement, a prolonged treatment course is required to achieve adequate clinical response.
