Managing Sjögren Syndrome with Chronic Daily Non-Inflammatory Musculoskeletal Pain
Patients with Sjögren syndrome who experience chronic, daily musculoskeletal pain that is non-inflammatory in character represent a distinct subgroup requiring a specifically tailored management strategy.
In patients with chronic, daily non-inflammatory pain, the management must be completely different, avoiding the repeated use of NSAIDs or GCs. Standard anti-inflammatory therapies are not the appropriate response in this setting.
The recommended first step draws on strategies established for general chronic pain management, with an emphasis on activity-based, non-pharmacological interventions. The complete sequencing, rationale, and clinical guidance remain in the full protocol.

In patients with chronic, daily non-inflammatory pain, the management must be completely different, avoiding the repeated use of NSAIDs or GCs.
The first therapeutic step should be to follow the same recommendations as those proposed for general chronic pain, by suggesting that physical activity and aerobic exercise are interventions with few adverse events that may reduce pain severity and improve physical function.
