What is the treatment of Recurrent Respiratory Papillomatosis in moderately to severely afflicted patients?

Recurrent respiratory papillomatosis requires repeated operative management, and in patients with significant disease burden the approach goes beyond ablation alone. A combined surgical and adjuvant strategy is indicated for patients who carry a heavier clinical burden.

This protocol applies to patients with moderate to severe RRP: those who require frequent surgery, have worsening airway compromise, suffer severely impaired communication, or who might otherwise be considered candidates for tracheostomy.

Treatment approach

The protocol combines conventional surgical ablation with intralesional injection of an adjuvant agent delivered directly at the base of removed lesions. The complete regimen — including candidacy criteria, technique details, and needle selection — is contained in the full structured protocol.
