Patients with primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) frequently experience pruritus. When the itching is mild, a targeted, skin-directed approach is indicated. The protocol below addresses this specific clinical scenario.
This protocol applies to patients with primary sclerosing cholangitis who present with mild pruritus (skin itching). The primary clinical goal in this setting is reduction of pruritus through locally directed measures.

Local skin treatment should be performed with emollients and/or antihistamines in patients with PSC and mild pruritus, to reduce symptoms.
