This protocol addresses stage IE or stage IIE primary pulmonary non-Hodgkin's lymphoma — specifically subtypes other than MALT lymphoma or diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). The localised extranodal staging (IE/IIE) places this disease within a distinct management pathway compared with systemic lymphoma presentations.
Among stage IE/IIE primary pulmonary lymphomas, the histological subtype is central to treatment selection. For non-MALT, non-DLBCL NHL at these stages, current evidence does not support surgical resection as the preferred approach — in contrast to DLBCL, where surgery may play a role.
