Treatment for Primary Cutaneous Marginal Zone Lymphoma with Face or Scalp Lesions Difficult to Treat by Radiotherapy or Surgery
Clinical Scenario
This protocol applies to patients with primary cutaneous marginal zone lymphoma whose lesions are located on the face or scalp — sites where conventional local approaches such as radiotherapy or surgery are difficult to apply effectively.
Treatment Approach
For lesions in these anatomically challenging locations, an intralesional treatment strategy is indicated. The full protocol specifies which agents are used intralesionally and under what conditions each is selected.
Goal: complete response
The complete regimen — including agent selection, schedule, and response criteria — is available in the full structured protocol.

- When lesions are difficult to treat by radiotherapy or surgery, such as the face and the scalp, treatment with intralesional rituximab has been considered.
- Interferon-alpha (IFN-α) has also been used intralesionally in PCMZL.
- All patients reached a CR after a median of eight weeks, two patients relapsed locally, and experienced a secondary CR after treatment with IFN-α.
