In patients with moderate-to-severe postthrombotic syndrome (PTS) whose symptoms cause substantial disability and limitations in daily life, certain interventional approaches may be considered when appropriately selected.
This protocol applies to patients with established postthrombotic syndrome at moderate-to-severe severity who experience significant functional impairment and life limitations attributable to their venous disease — a population where conservative measures alone may not adequately address the burden of disease.
The approach for this scenario involves surgical or endovascular procedures — including certain venous reconstructive techniques — considered in appropriately selected patients. Consultation with an experienced subspecialist in complex venous disease is an important part of the evaluation process.
