Treatment of Non-Infective Posterior Uveitis When Infective Causes Are Excluded

This protocol applies to patients with posterior uveitis in whom a thorough workup has ruled out infective aetiology, confirming a non-infective cause and making immune-modulating management appropriate.

Clinical Scenario

Posterior uveitis is confirmed as non-infective, with infectious causes systematically excluded before treatment is initiated. In this setting, systemic steroids are the mainstay of therapy. When disease recurs, when steroids are not tolerated, or when the response is inadequate, escalation becomes necessary.

Treatment Approach

Where escalation is indicated, immunosuppressive therapy — with or without systemic steroids — forms the basis of management. Several agent classes are available, each suited to different clinical profiles. The complete regimen, agent selection, and monitoring are detailed in the full structured protocol.
