This protocol applies to patients with posterior uveitis in whom an infective aetiology has been thoroughly excluded. Confirming the non-infective nature of the condition is a prerequisite before proceeding — systemic steroids are the mainstay of therapy in this confirmed non-infective setting.
Once infectious causes have been completely ruled out, local intravitreal steroid delivery plays a role as an adjunct in managing active disease — particularly during flare-ups. The full structured regimen, including sequencing and additional considerations, is available via the protocol below.

Systemic steroids are the mainstay of therapy in non-infective posterior uveitis.
Once the diagnosis of non-infectious uveitis has been confirmed over time and infectious causes have been completely ruled out, intravitreal injections of steroid, such as triamcinolone or dexamethasone, are very useful adjuncts in controlling flare-ups.
