Treating Infertility Due to Anovulation in PCOS with No Other Infertility Factors
This protocol covers women with polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) who present with infertility and confirmed anovulation, where no additional infertility factors are identified. Because the anovulation attributable to PCOS is the sole driver of infertility in this group, the treatment focus is well-defined and distinct from more complex presentations.
Management is built around pharmacological ovulation induction. A specific first-line agent is supported by evidence as the preferred choice. Several alternative first-line options are also recognised, each carrying a different balance of efficacy, cost, and monitoring burden — the decision between them requires an informed discussion with the patient.
The complete regimen — specific agents, dose-escalation strategy, and decision algorithm — is contained in the full protocol.
