Treatment of T1 or T2 Penile Squamous Cell Carcinoma Confined to the Glans and Prepuce

This protocol applies to patients with invasive penile squamous cell carcinoma staged T1 or T2, where disease is anatomically confined to the glans and prepuce. Lesion extent and the patient's willingness to adhere to close post-treatment surveillance are central to management decisions in this setting.

Clinical scenario

Invasive penile squamous cell carcinoma (cT1/T2) confined to the glans and prepuce encompasses a range of presentations, from stage T1 through T2, in which the tumour has not extended beyond these anatomical structures. Organ-sparing surgery and reconstructive techniques are offered to eligible patients in this group who are willing to comply with strict follow-up requirements.

Treatment approach (overview only)

Surgical management is the foundation of treatment. Depending on clinical factors and patient preferences, the approach may range from organ-preserving surgery with or without reconstruction to more extensive resection. The full protocol specifies which surgical pathway applies under which conditions — including the criteria that determine the choice between options.
