Treatment of Pancreatic Pseudocyst in the Head, Neck, or Body When the Distance to the GI Wall Is <1 cm

This protocol applies to pancreatic pseudocyst located in the head, neck, or body of the pancreas, confirmed to have no communication with the pancreatic duct, and positioned less than 1 cm from the gastrointestinal wall — a configuration that determines which drainage approach is appropriate.

Clinical Scenario

Pseudocyst in the head, neck, or body of the pancreas — no ductal communication — with a pseudocyst-to-GI-wall distance of less than 1 cm.

Treatment Approach

When the anatomical criteria above are met, an endoscopic drainage procedure is the indicated intervention.

The full protocol specifies technique selection, procedural considerations, and the complete decision algorithm — access it below.

If the distance between the pseudocyst and the gastrointestinal wall is <1 cm, endoscopic drainage via cystogastrostomy or cystoduodenostomy should be performed.
