This protocol addresses a specific presentation of Paget's disease of the breast in which there is no associated palpable lump and no clinical or radiological detectable breast tumor — a scenario where the disease is confined to the nipple region.
Paget's disease of the breast presenting with nipple involvement and no associated palpable lump in the breast and no clinical or radiological detectable breast tumor. This subset of patients may be candidates for a range of surgical and non-surgical approaches.
The recommended approach involves local surgical excision of the nipple–areola region, typically followed by irradiation of the breast. For carefully selected patients whose disease is confined to the nipple without any detectable breast tumor, irradiation may be considered as an alternative to more extensive surgery.
The complete regimen — including sequencing, patient selection criteria, and all relevant clinical options — is available in the full structured protocol below.Expert panel recommend for wide local excision followed by radiotherapy.
There was no associated palpable lump in the breast.
This gives support to the view that selected patients with Paget's disease of the breast can be treated by radiotherapy as an alternative to radical surgery in selected patients with Paget's disease confined to the nipple, without clinical or radiological detectable breast tumor.
