Ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) is a serious complication that can arise during ovarian stimulation for assisted reproduction. Recognising and acting on high-risk situations early — at the stimulation phase — is essential to patient safety.
When standard preventive options are not available, the protocol involves a stimulation-management technique in which gonadotropin administration is temporarily withheld, used as part of a broader combined strategy to reduce OHSS risk.

However, when other more effective strategies are not available to reduce the risk of OHSS, coasting in combination with cabergoline and a freeze-only strategy may mitigate the risk.
