Treatment of Ovarian Cancer in Malignant Sex Cord-Stromal Tumor of the Ovary

Malignant sex cord-stromal tumors of the ovary represent a distinct histologic subtype of ovarian cancer. Management decisions in this setting are guided by surgical staging and risk stratification.

This protocol applies to patients with ovarian cancer arising from a malignant sex cord-stromal tumor of the ovary. Stage and risk category at diagnosis are central to determining the appropriate adjuvant management strategy.

Adjuvant management depends on disease stage and risk classification. For certain stage and risk categories, observation alone may be appropriate, while others may warrant consideration of platinum-based chemotherapy. The complete staging-based algorithm and preferred regimen options are available in the full protocol.
