This protocol applies to an old bucket-handle meniscus tear that cannot be reduced back to its anatomical position. The knee is stable — cruciate ligaments are intact, with no anterior cruciate ligament tear present. This specific combination of nonreducibility and ligament stability directly shapes the treatment decision.
When a bucket-handle tear is nonreducible and other treatment options are not applicable, an arthroscopic surgical approach targeting the meniscus is indicated.

Partial meniscectomy of traumatic meniscus tears should only be applied if the other two treatment options are not applicable, e.g., in complex tears, tears with a high degree of degeneration, flap tears or nonreducible bucket handle tears.
In the current study, a stable knee has intact ligaments.
