Treatment of Nodal Marginal Zone Lymphoma with Concurrent HCV-Related Chronic Hepatitis
This protocol addresses the management of nodal marginal zone lymphoma (NMZL) in patients who also have concurrent HCV-related chronic hepatitis and who do not yet require immediate lymphoma-directed treatment.
The patient has nodal marginal zone lymphoma together with concurrent HCV-related chronic hepatitis. Immediate lymphoma treatment is not currently indicated, which opens a specific therapeutic window guided by the underlying viral infection.
When immediate lymphoma treatment is not required, addressing the underlying hepatitis C infection is the recommended first step — antiviral therapy may lead to lymphoma remission in a substantial proportion of patients. The complete structured regimen, eligibility criteria, and sequencing are available in the full protocol.
- In patients with NMZL and concurrent HCV-related chronic hepatitis, antiviral treatment may induce remission in a high proportion of cases.
- In patients not needing immediate lymphoma treatment, antiviral therapy should be considered as first treatment [IV, B].
