Treatment of Confirmed Nipah Virus (NiV) Infection

Nipah virus infection is a severe, often fatal viral illness. On laboratory confirmation of NiV infection, an immediate and structured clinical response is required. Available treatment options are very limited, and decisions are made in close discussion with the patient or their legal authorised representative.

Clinical Management Approach

Management of confirmed NiV infection combines intensive supportive care with specific antiviral drug treatment. The protocol addresses both the supportive measures and the antiviral agents to be considered — including the conditions under which each may be administered on compassionate grounds. The complete regimen, agent selection criteria, and sequencing are detailed in the full structured protocol.
