Necrotizing fasciitis requires urgent intervention. When the causative organism has been confirmed as Aeromonas hydrophila, the antibiotic strategy must be directed at the identified pathogen — the confirmed microbial etiology directly determines the appropriate treatment selection.
Necrotizing fasciitis may be monomicrobial or polymicrobial. Aeromonas hydrophila is a recognised cause of the monomicrobial form. Once the microbial etiology has been determined, antibiotic coverage should be appropriately modified to reflect the confirmed pathogen.
Management centres on prompt surgical debridement in combination with antibiotic therapy targeted to the confirmed organism. The complete regimen — including agent selection and the specific combination used — is detailed in the full protocol.
