Uveal melanoma at the metastatic stage carries a poor prognosis, and HLA-A*02:01 status identifies a specific subpopulation for whom a distinct, evidence-backed first-line treatment pathway is defined.
This protocol is indicated for patients with metastatic uveal melanoma who are confirmed HLA-A*02:01 positive. HLA typing is therefore a prerequisite before selecting first-line therapy in this setting.
For HLA-A*02:01-positive patients with metastatic uveal melanoma, a targeted agent — tebentafusp — is recommended as first-line therapy. The complete dosing schedule, eligibility criteria, and monitoring requirements are detailed in the full structured protocol.
HLA-A*02:01-positive patients with metastatic uveal melanoma should be offered tebentafusp (20 mg once on day 1, 30 mg once on day 8, and 68 mg once weekly after that until progression; Type: Evidence based, benefits outweigh harms; Evidence quality: Moderate; Strength of recommendation: Strong).
