Treatment of Localised, Clinically Unresectable Liposarcoma of an Extremity or Superficial Trunk

When liposarcoma of the extremity or superficial trunk is localised but not surgically resectable at initial assessment, the clinical priority shifts to preoperative strategies intended to render the tumour resectable and to preserve the limb wherever possible.

This protocol addresses localised, clinically unresectable soft-tissue sarcoma of the extremity or superficial trunk — cases in which upfront surgery cannot achieve adequate margins and additional treatment is required before resection can be attempted.

Preoperative treatment — centred on systemic therapy and/or radiotherapy — is used to convert the tumour to a resectable state. Limb-preserving options may also be considered, and the protocol outlines the specific interventions, combinations, and evidence levels in full.
