This protocol addresses patients with late latent syphilis — infection acquired at least one year previously, or where the duration of infection cannot be determined — who have no penicillin allergy. Late latent syphilis is classified as infection beyond the first year and encompasses cardiovascular and gummatous forms of the disease.
When the preferred injectable preparation is not available, an alternative injectable penicillin-based regimen is indicated for this duration class of infection. The complete agent, schedule, and any conditional steps are set out in the full protocol.
