Inferior vena cava (IVC) syndrome can arise in the context of Budd-Chiari syndrome (BCS) — a rare occlusive disease in which the hepatic veins and/or the IVC become obstructed or thrombosed, producing a distinct and clinically demanding presentation.
Clinical scenario: Budd-Chiari syndrome with obstruction and/or thrombosis of the inferior vena cava and/or hepatic veins. In this setting, IVCS develops as a consequence of rare occlusive disease affecting these venous structures.
The structured protocol for this scenario includes a liver transplantation-based surgical option among the interventions considered. The complete regimen — including patient selection criteria, sequencing, and all relevant options — is available in the full protocol.
