Inferior vena cava (IVC) syndrome can develop in the setting of Budd-Chiari syndrome (BCS) — a rare occlusive disease involving the hepatic veins and/or the IVC. When obstruction and/or thrombosis of the IVC and/or hepatic veins is present, a structured treatment approach is required.
