This protocol applies to patients with iatrogenic Kaposi sarcoma whose disease progressed on first-line treatment and who require a structured next-line approach.
When pegylated liposomal doxorubicin does not achieve partial remission of Kaposi's sarcoma after approximately 3–6 infusions, the first line is considered insufficient and escalation to the next-line regimen is indicated.
Second-line systemic chemotherapy with a taxane is the documented option for disease that is progressive on anthracycline therapy. The complete regimen, including all selection criteria and sequencing, is in the full protocol.
