Treatment of Giant Cell Tumor of Bone of the Pelvis or Sacrum

Giant cell tumor of bone arising in the pelvis or sacrum presents unique surgical challenges due to anatomical complexity. These locations are associated with limited resectability and significant risk of post-operative dysfunction.

In this pelvic or sacral setting, curettage or external beam radiotherapy (EBR) may be considered as therapeutic options. When disease is inoperable or when severe dysfunction follows surgery, a systemic approach combined with vascular intervention becomes relevant.

For patients with inoperable disease or severe post-operative dysfunction, the treatment strategy involves a targeted agent — used either in combination with embolization or as a standalone approach. The complete regimen, eligibility criteria, and sequencing are defined in the full structured protocol.
