Treatment of Folliculitis in Deep Bacterial Folliculitis

This protocol addresses folliculitis that is bacterial in origin and extends into the deeper layers of the follicle. The depth of infection distinguishes this presentation and has direct implications for how treatment is selected and delivered.

In deep bacterial folliculitis, identifying the causative organism is a mandatory step — treatment cannot be reliably guided without culture results. The findings from culture directly determine which antibacterial agent is appropriate for this patient.

Management involves an oral antibacterial chosen on the basis of culture results. In some cases, an additional procedural step may also be needed alongside systemic therapy. The complete decision criteria, sequencing, and regimen details are in the full protocol.
