Treatment of Early-Stage Follicular Lymphoma (Stage I–II) with Contiguous Involved Lymph Nodes Within a Radiotherapy Field

Clinical scenario

This protocol applies to patients with follicular lymphoma at stage I or II (limited/early stage), where the involved lymph nodes are contiguous and can be encompassed within a single radiotherapy field. The patient has not undergone localised surgical excision, and there are no concerns precluding radiotherapy.

Conventionally, this presentation — early-stage disease with contiguous involved nodes readily encompassed within a radiation field — has been managed with local radiotherapy directed at the involved site.

Treatment approach

The recommended first-line approach centres on localised radiotherapy directed at the involved site, delivered with curative intent. An alternative lower-dose approach also exists for situations where a palliative strategy is more appropriate. The complete regimen, dose selection, and fractionation schedule are detailed in the full protocol.
