Treatment of Advanced-Stage (III–IV) Asymptomatic Follicular Lymphoma with No B Symptoms
This protocol addresses patients with follicular lymphoma presenting at advanced stage (III–IV) who remain asymptomatic, with no B symptoms. The clinical question is how to manage this group appropriately, balancing the need to act against the risks of unnecessary treatment.
Clinical scenario
Follicular lymphoma, advanced stage (III–IV), asymptomatic — no B symptoms. This is a first-line management decision.
Approach
For asymptomatic patients in this setting, active treatment is not necessarily the immediate step — a non-interventional strategy is among the evidence-based options, and a targeted monotherapy may also be considered in appropriate cases.
Full regimen options, criteria for each approach, and decision guidance are in the complete protocol →
References
In people with asymptomatic, advanced stage FL consider observation alone i.e. no therapy. Induction rituximab monotherapy may also be considered as it is a safe and cost-effective therapy.
