This protocol addresses folate-deficiency anemia in patients who present with low serum folate together with low serum cobalamin — a co-deficiency pattern that requires a different therapeutic approach than isolated folate deficiency.
When low serum folate is accompanied by low serum cobalamin, management begins with cobalamin therapy as the initial step.
