Fibrous Dysplasia of Bone with Precocious Puberty and Elevated Serum Testosterone in Males

In males with fibrous dysplasia of bone, the presence of precocious puberty alongside elevated serum testosterone and/or advanced bone age defines a specific clinical situation that calls for targeted endocrine management in addition to standard bone-directed care.

Treatment for precocious puberty is indicated when there is an associated elevated serum testosterone and/or bone age advancement. This combination also requires monitoring for central precocious puberty, which may shift the therapeutic approach.

When central precocious puberty is identified in this setting, addition of a gonadotropin-releasing hormone analogue (GnRHa) is part of the structured approach. The complete regimen — including sequencing, co-interventions, and monitoring criteria — is detailed in the full protocol.

  • Treatment for precocious puberty is indicated in case of an associated elevated serum testosterone and/or bone age advancement.
  • Combination of testosterone receptor blocker and aromatase inhibitor are needed as well as monitoring for central precious puberty, in which case GnRHa may need to be added.
