Treatment of Cystoisosporiasis in Immunocompromised Patients, Including HIV

Cystoisosporiasis is an intestinal parasitic infection that poses particular challenges when it occurs in patients with a compromised immune system. Expert guidance is especially important in this population to ensure appropriate and adequate treatment.

This protocol addresses Cystoisosporiasis in the setting of an immunocompromised state — for example, in patients living with HIV. Expert consultation is recommended for immunocompromised patients with this infection.

Management in immunocompromised patients involves antibiotic combination therapy targeting the organism. Immunocompromised individuals may require treatment courses that differ from those in immunocompetent hosts.

Full regimen details, dosing, and duration are available in the structured protocol →

Expert consultation is recommended if the patient is immunocompromised, for example, has HIV.

Such patients may need to be treated longer and/or with higher daily doses.
