Cutaneous lichen planus presents with pruritus and cutaneous lesions. First-line management aims to reduce itching and achieve resolution of the skin lesions.
The primary objectives are reduction of pruritus and shortening the time from disease onset to resolution of cutaneous lesions.
First-line management is centred on topical glucocorticoid therapy. For lesions that prove more resistant, an injectable glucocorticoid approach may be considered. Adjuvant agents targeting symptomatic relief can be added alongside the primary regimen. The complete agent selection, sequencing, and clinical algorithm are detailed in the full protocol.
