This protocol addresses cutaneous leishmaniasis in patients where the causative species is Leishmania tropica, Leishmania infantum/donovani, or Leishmania aethiopica — pathogens associated with Old World cutaneous disease.
For carefully selected patients — where lesion burden and appearance meet specific clinical criteria and immunological status is considered — a conservative, non-interventional management strategy may be appropriate rather than active systemic or local therapy.
Complete reepithelialization (healing) of the cutaneous lesion.
Treatment of L. tropica, Leishmania infantum/donovani, and Leishmania aethiopica
Up to three lesions, not cosmetically disfiguring and patients not immunosuppressed, option acceptable to patient: Simple wound care
