Cutaneous Leishmaniasis Caused by Leishmania tropica, L. infantum/donovani, or L. aethiopica

Clinical Scenario

This protocol addresses cutaneous leishmaniasis in patients where the causative species is Leishmania tropica, Leishmania infantum/donovani, or Leishmania aethiopica — pathogens associated with Old World cutaneous disease.

Treatment Approach

For carefully selected patients — where lesion burden and appearance meet specific clinical criteria and immunological status is considered — a conservative, non-interventional management strategy may be appropriate rather than active systemic or local therapy.

Full eligibility criteria, decision algorithm, and complete regimen are in the structured protocol.

Treatment Goal

Complete reepithelialization (healing) of the cutaneous lesion.
