This protocol applies to Cutaneous amoebiasis occurring in the setting of asymptomatic amebiasis — a luminal infection in which the organism is present but has not produced invasive clinical disease. Asymptomatic infection of this type is referred to as luminal amebiasis. Despite the absence of symptoms, treatment is indicated to prevent tissue invasion and onward transmission.
Management in this setting is directed exclusively at the luminal stage of infection. A luminal cysticidal agent is used — the complete agent selection, alternatives, and structured sequencing are detailed in the full protocol.
