Managing Common Warts in Children Under 18 Years

Common warts in paediatric patients present a distinct clinical challenge. In children under 18 years of age, particularly those with recalcitrant or multiple lesions, a specific evidence-based approach is warranted to achieve clearance.

This protocol applies to patients under 18 years of age presenting with common warts — a subgroup for which targeted treatment guidance exists, especially when warts are multiple or have not responded to initial measures.

The recommended approach involves an intralesional immunotherapy strategy. The full regimen — including agent selection, administration schedule, and management of non-response — is detailed in the complete protocol.

The primary target is complete clearance of warts at 4 weeks, with the criterion for cure also requiring no recurrence beyond the initial assessment period.
