What Is the Treatment for Chronic Hepatitis C After Prior Glecaprevir/Pibrentasvir Treatment Failure?

Adults with chronic hepatitis C infection โ€” without cirrhosis or with compensated cirrhosis โ€” who did not achieve the treatment goal with a prior course of glecaprevir/pibrentasvir require a dedicated retreatment approach. Structured options are available for this population.

Clinical Scenario

This protocol applies to adults with chronic HCV infection (without cirrhosis or with compensated cirrhosis) in whom prior glecaprevir/pibrentasvir therapy was unsuccessful. The presence or absence of compensated cirrhosis informs which retreatment path is appropriate.

Treatment Approach

Retreatment involves combination antiviral therapy. For patients with compensated cirrhosis, the addition of weight-based ribavirin to the regimen is specifically recommended. The complete regimen options, drug combinations, and treatment durations are available in the full protocol.

Treatment Goal

Sustained virologic response 12 weeks after completion of therapy (SVR12) โ€” defined as undetectable HCV RNA.
