First-Line Daily Prophylaxis for Chronic Granulomatous Disease
Daily antimicrobial prophylaxis is recommended for all patients with chronic granulomatous disease. This first-line protocol defines the agents used and how they are applied across patient groups.
Treatment approach
All patients are commenced on a dual daily prophylaxis regimen combining Co-trimoxazole and Itraconazole. Dosing is stratified by age — the complete age-specific schedule and clinical guidance are available in the full protocol.
References
- All patients should be commenced on Co-trimoxazole.
- All patients should be commenced on Itraconazole (5mg/kg daily), as this has good activity against Aspergillus species.
