Dedifferentiated chondrosarcoma is an aggressive histological subtype requiring careful treatment planning. In younger patients — specifically those under 40 years of age who are tolerant to methotrexate — both surgical and systemic strategies are part of the clinical picture.
This protocol is designed for patients with dedifferentiated chondrosarcoma who are under 40 years of age and tolerant to methotrexate. This younger patient group with an aggressive subtype is specifically considered for combined modality treatment — an approach informed by protocols used in related bone malignancies.
Surgical resection remains central, with the specific procedure guided by what margins can be achieved. For eligible patients in this age group, multi-agent chemotherapy incorporating methotrexate may be considered in the neoadjuvant and/or adjuvant setting, with or without additional systemic agents.
The complete regimen — full agent selection, sequencing, and additional therapeutic options — is contained in the full structured protocol.
