This protocol applies to non-pregnant adults aged 18 years or older presenting in the acute phase of Chikungunya virus disease. Clinical management strategy is determined by the phase of illness at presentation.
Approach
Acute-phase management is symptomatic and delivered in-hospital, with supportive measures selected according to the patient's clinical status — the full structured regimen addresses additional considerations beyond initial supportive care.

Treat symptomatically (paracetamol, antiemetics, and intravenous fluids as required), specific management for co-infections/co-morbidities and organ dysfunction as per available facilities.
